Kenneth Walker Continues to deal with ankle injury
Tue, Jun 10, 2025, 5:50 PM
Coach Mike Macdonald said Tuesday that Walker has been limited during the offseason program due to an ankle injury, but the running back "should be fine," Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports
Analysis: Walker tended to an ankle issue down the stretch of last season, making just one appearance (Week 16) over the final five contests before landing on injured reserve. Through three pro campaigns, he's missed time in each one, missing 3.3 games annually, but when he's been able to suit up, he's averaged 79.3 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring 26 touchdowns in 41 regular-season games. The Seahawks have a pair of OTAs remaining this week (Wednesday/Thursday) and mandatory minicamp on deck (next Tuesday through Thursday), so Walker has a few more chances to mix into drills fully before the team's month-plus break before training camp in late July. Zach Charbonnet should continue to handle first-team reps for as long as Walker isn't 100 percent.

Kenneth Walker On field for OTAs
Wed, Jun 4, 2025, 9:40 AM
Walker (ankle) is participating in Seattle's voluntary OTAs, per the team's official site.
Analysis: Walker is pictured among teammates participating in the Seahawks' second week of OTAs, which began Monday. Now healthy and heading into the final year of his rookie deal, Walker's situation in Seattle's backfield remains familiar. If he can avoid the injury bug and stay 100 percent healthy, something Walker has struggled to accomplish through his first three seasons in the NFL, he looks entrenched as the starter ahead of Zach Charbonnet. The arrival of new starting quarterback Sam Darnold could allow this offense to take a step forward in 2025, while new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's scheme, which focuses on zone rushes, is an ideal fit for Walker's tough running style and explosiveness. Health remains the most pivotal factor in prognosticating Walker, but if he's able to break the pattern of lower-body injuries hampering him, it won't be surprising if the 2022 second-round pick outperforms his ADP in 2025 fantasy drafts.
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo Past knee issue
Fri, May 2, 2025, 6:24 PM
Arroyo said Friday that he is no longer dealing with the knee injury that limited him leading up to the NFL Draft, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The knee issue prevented Arroyo from running the 40 at either the NFL Combine or his pro day, though Seattle was able to estimate him at 4.52/4.53 based on his GPS speeds. The injury didn't deter the Seahawks from drafting the big tight end out of Miami in the second round (50th overall), however, making him the fifth tight end off the board. Arroyo has a chance to carve out a significant role in the team's offense, especially if he can have a big training camp -- while Noah Fant tallied a respectable 500 receiving yards on 48 catches during the regular season last year, he has only one touchdown reception over the past two campaigns.
Noah Fant
Noah Fant Competition arrives via draft
Mon, Apr 28, 2025, 6:32 AM
Fant could face competition for the starting job after the Seahawks selected Elijah Arroyo (knee) in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Analysis: A 2019 first-round pick, Fant's career has never truly taken off, as his best marks for receiving were in 2020 when he posted a 62-673-3 line, and he has scored just one touchdown over the past two seasons with the Seahawks. Thus, it's not surprising that the Seahawks addressed tight end early in the draft after also taking AJ Barner in the fourth round last year. Arroyo may take some time to develop, but he looks like the Seahawks' long-term plan at the position.
Drew Lock
Drew Lock Faces competition for backup job
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 5:58 PM
Lock will face competition for the No. 2 quarterback job behind Sam Darnold after the Seahawks selected Jalen Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft
Analysis: For a brief moment the Seahawks had three capable backups in their quarterback room, but they traded Sam Howell to the Vikings on Day 3 of the draft. Thus, Lock will need to earn the No. 2 job in his second stint with the Seahawks. Milroe has unique tools for the position, showcasing 4.4 speed and a marvelous deep ball, while Lock has experience on his side and is one of the better backups in the league.
Sam Howell
Sam Howell Receiving trade interest
Fri, Apr 18, 2025, 8:21 PM
The Seahawks have received trade inquiries about Howell and are open to trading him, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Howell served as Seattle's backup last season and threw just 14 passes behind the mostly healthy Geno Smith. With Smith now in Las Vegas, Seattle has revamped its quarterback room, bringing in both Sam Darnold and Drew Lock. GM John Schneider said earlier this week that Howell would compete with Lock for the backup QB role, but the organization's reported willingness to deal Howell suggests that Lock has the inside track on the job. Howell could be an intriguing option for teams in need of a backup QB -- despite his struggles in a very limited sample last season (he completed just five of those 14 pass attempts), he has ample experience as a starter, completing 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,946 yards and a 21:21 TD:INT over 17 regular-season games with Washington in 2023.
Sam Howell
Sam Howell Competing for backup job
Thu, Apr 17, 2025, 9:16 PM
Howell will compete for the No. 2 job behind Sam Darnold after the Seahawks signed Drew Lock on Friday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: GM John Schneider added that he looks forward to Howell's development in the new scheme after the Seahawks fired OC Ryan Grubb after just one season and replaced him with Klint Kubiak. Schneider also stated that Lock's arrival doesn't mean the team won't add another quarterback during the draft. Howell played just 25 snaps during 2024, completing five of 14 passes for 24 yards and an interception. Such a small sample size isn't determinative of Howell's future, however, as he was a serviceable option in Washington in 2023 with 3,946 yards, 21 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in addition to five rushing scores. Meanwhile, Lock's career numbers aren't much better, but he has familiarity with the organization and may be a more steady backup as the Seahawks look to perform a quick rebuild with Darnold's lead.
Drew Lock
Drew Lock Reunites with Seattle
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 2:15 PM
Lock agreed to terms Friday on a contract with the Seahawks, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Lock struggled amid less than ideal circumstances with the Giants last year, completing 59.1 percent of his passes for 1,071 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions across eight regular-season appearances. He now returns to Seattle, where in he suited up for four regular-season games in 2023 and looked modestly better while mustering a 63.0 percent completion rate, 543 passing yards, three touchdowns and three INTs. The 28-year-old figures to spend the offseason competing with Sam Howell for the top backup gig behind Sam Darnold.
Steven Sims
Steven Sims Signs with Seattle
Tue, Mar 25, 2025, 6:20 PM
Sims and the Seahawks agreed on a one-year contract Tuesday, Corbin K. Smith of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Sims will head to Seattle after splitting the 2024 campaign between the Texans and the Ravens. The wide receiver combined to log nine total offensive snaps with Houston and Baltimore during the regular season, making the most of his damage as a return-specialist. He'll likely operate in a similar role with the Seahawks in 2025.
Eric Saubert
Eric Saubert Joining Seattle
Mon, Mar 24, 2025, 6:21 PM
Saubert signed with the Seahawks on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: With the signing, the tight end joins his eighth team as he heads into his ninth NFL campaign. Saubert spent 2024 with the 49ers, playing in all 17 games and catching 11 passes for 97 yards and a score. The veteran has played more on special teams than offense in five of his eight NFL seasons, and he should begin his time with Seattle behind at least Noah Fant and AJ Barner on the depth chart.
River Cracraft
River Cracraft Signs with Seattle
Fri, Mar 21, 2025, 3:21 PM
The Seahawks signed Cracraft to a contract Friday.
Analysis: Cracraft joins Seattle's wide-receiver corps after spending the last three seasons in Miami, in which span he never managed to pile up 150 receiving yards in a single year. He'll work to establish himself in a depth role with his new team, where plenty of offensive snaps figure to be up for grabs with Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling having replaced DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Cooper Kupp
Cooper Kupp Finds new home in Pacific Northwest
Fri, Mar 14, 2025, 5:38 PM
The Seahawks and Kupp agreed to terms of a contract Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, it's a three-year deal for Kupp, who spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Rams. Kupp will join a receiving corps that moved on from DK Metcalf (traded to the Steelers) and Tyler Lockett (released) this offseason, meaning he'll be working with third-year pro Jaxon Smith-Njigba and veteran vertical threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling in an offense led by new QB Sam Darnold. Since his standout 145-1,947-16 performance on 191 targets in 2021, Kupp hasn't surpassed 75 catches, 812 yards or six touchdowns in any of the ensuing three campaigns while missing 18 regular-season contests during that span.
Cody White
Cody White Back with Seattle
Fri, Mar 14, 2025, 2:03 PM
The Seahawks re-signed White on Friday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: White wasn't tendered by Seattle at the start of the new league year, but he'll now re-sign with the team. He appeared in four regular-season games with the Seahawks in 2024, with all of his counting stats (two grabs for 44 yards on three targets) having come Week 9 versus the Rams. He'll spend the offseason competing for a depth spot at wide receiver.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Marquez Valdes-Scantling Finds favorable landing spot
Wed, Mar 12, 2025, 12:03 PM
Valdes-Scantling agreed Wednesday with the Seahawks on a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Valdes-Scantling reunites with former Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak in Seattle and joins a receiver room that features little in the way of proven options other than Jaxon Smith-Njigba. New Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will have to make do with a receiving corps that has lost two 2024 starters, with DK Metcalf now in Pittsburgh and Tyler Lockett getting released. Their departures open up a potential path for Valdes-Scantling to see steady playing time as a deep threat. He recorded 17 catches (35 targets) for 385 yards and four scores across eight games with New Orleans in 2024.
Sam Darnold
Sam Darnold Signing with Seattle
Mon, Mar 10, 2025, 1:27 PM
Darnold and the Seahawks reached agreement Monday on a three-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Schefter reports it as a three-year, $100.5 million deal, including $55 million guaranteed. Darnold will take over as the starting quarterback for a new-look Seattle offense that's trading QB Geno Smith (to the Raiders) and WR DK Metcalf (to the Steelers) in exchange for draft picks. The team also has a new offensive coordinator, with Klint Kubiak replacing Ryan Grubbs, but there's still a lot of work to be done, namely upgrading a lousy offensive line and finding another receiving threat alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba
Jaxon Smith-Njigba New quarterback in 2025
Sat, Mar 8, 2025, 7:26 AM
Smith-Njigba will catch passes from a new quarterback in 2025 after the Seahawks traded Geno Smith to the Raiders on Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The turbulent week in Seattle continues, as previously the Seahawks released WR Tyler Lockett before fellow WR DK Metcalf requested a trade. Last season, Smith-Njigba led all Seahawks receivers in receptions (100), receiving yards (1,130), and touchdowns (six). While potentially losing Metcalf would force defenses to key in on Smith-Njigba even further, the 2023 first-round pick was superb across two games without Metcalf last year, generating 249 yards and two touchdowns. The bigger concern for Smith-Njigba's fantasy value in 2025 is the quarterback, though he should be a target hog once again considering his role in the slot -- where he played 75 percent of snaps last year -- is secure.
DK Metcalf
DK Metcalf Puts in trade request
Wed, Mar 5, 2025, 12:31 PM
Metcalf requested a trade from the Seahawks on Wednesday, and Seattle has agreed to explore moving the wideout, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Metcalf -- who has one year left on his contract -- is seeking a new deal, so any trade would likely be contingent on the acquiring team being willing to extend him. The 27-year-old wideout is coming off a season in which he posted a 66-992-5 receiving line over 15 games, and while that level of production represented a step back from previous years, Metcalf is still likely to draw ample interest around the league from teams looking to add a field-stretching playmaker. Seattle released longtime slot wideout Tyler Lockett on Wednesday, so the team's receiving corps could look dramatically different in 2025 if Metcalf is ultimately traded.
Tyler Lockett
Tyler Lockett Uncertain standing for 2025
Tue, Feb 25, 2025, 4:04 PM
Lockett is unlikely to remain with the Seahawks without taking a pay cut, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports.
Analysis: Lockett is one of the team's veteran leaders and ranks second in franchise history with 8,594 receiving yards, but his receiving volume fell off a cliff in 2024 -- 4.4 targets per game in an offense that provided 8.1 for Jaxon Smith-Njigba and 7.2 for DK Metcalf. The 32-year-old now is scheduled for $17 million in 2025 compensation, including a non-guaranteed $5.3 million roster bonus due March 16. Lockett presumably will be released before that date unless he accepts a pay cut, or else an extension that drastically reduces his compensation and doesn't include any/many guarantees beyond 2025.
AJ Barner
AJ Barner Finds paydirt four times as rookie
Fri, Jan 17, 2025, 5:52 PM
Barner caught 30 passes (on 38 targets) for 245 yards and four touchdowns across 17 games with the Seahawks in 2024.
Analysis: Barner operated as the Seahawks' No. 2 tight end behind Noah Fant. The rookie fourth-round pick managed to finish third among all Seahawks pass-catchers with four touchdowns despite never recording more than 34 yards in a game. Fant has one year remaining on his contract, meaning Barner will likely serve as the No. 2 tight end again in 2025.
Pharaoh Brown
Pharaoh Brown Single-digit catches in 2024
Fri, Jan 17, 2025, 5:47 PM
Brown recorded eight catches (on 12 targets) for 65 yards over 15 games with the Seahawks in 2024.
Analysis: Brown averaged 16.3 offensive snaps per game, finishing behind both Noah Fant and rookie fourth-round pick AJ Barner. The 30-year-old tight end will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so he may end up on his fifth team in four years.
